Investigating how bacterial metabolites and metabolisms shape host-microbe interactions
Microbes have an incredible capacity to survive in almost any habitat — from hydrothermal vents to the lungs of someone suffering from a chronic infection. Despite the diversity in microbial life, there are unifying biochemical principles governing how bacteria survive. We seek to take an interdisciplinary approach to understand what factors promote bacterial survival as a function of the local environment.
